Beauty Retreat —
visual identity for a beauty studio.

A complete visual identity for a beauty and wellness studio whose service language sits between salon, retreat, and luxury skincare. The system reads as elegant, calm, and individual — never the cliché spa palette of beige + serif lockup that ten other studios in the same district already use.

The problem

A boutique beauty studio that wanted to read as "wellness retreat" rather than "downtown salon" — the local market is saturated with near-identical visual language (beige + script logotype + spa stock photography), and a generic brand would have made the studio invisible inside its own category.

The system also had to scale across surfaces the founder builds by hand: signage in a small physical space, packaging for a small product line, social-media templates that a non-designer can use without breaking the system, and printed collateral for partner referrals.

The approach
01

Wordmark before mood

Built the logo as a custom B+R monogram fused with a leaf motif — beauty meets nature meets luxury, encoded in the mark itself rather than in the supporting illustrations. Every other surface inherits geometry, weight and rhythm from that one mark, so the brand reads consistently even when the photography or copy is off-brand.

02

Palette + type as a unit

A muted off-white paired with a gold accent does the "luxury" work; the type pairing — display serif on a clean sans body — does the "calm + considered" work. The combination keeps the system warm without falling into the beige-serif default that defines the rest of the category.

03

System the founder can run

Brandbook + Figma component library + ready-to-publish social templates + packaging + signage in one pack. Documented at the level of "open file → drop in new content → export" so the founder doesn’t need a designer in the loop for day-to-day runs of the system.

The result — what shipped
  • Logo + monogram
  • Brandbook
  • Visual identity system
  • Type pairing
  • Colour palette
  • Packaging design
  • Signage applications
  • Social-media templates
“The brief was ‘wellness retreat, not downtown salon’ in a category where every other studio defaults to beige and a script logotype. The B+R monogram does the differentiation work in the mark itself, so the system still reads correctly when the photography or copy slips. That is how a brand survives once the founder is running it without a designer in the loop.”
